christmas fun

i know i'm late posting christmas pictures, but we have had such a fun week laying around, playing our new wii {our one and only christmas present to all three girls....i know, i know, kk got the bad end of that deal!}, and just spending time together as a family that I haven't spent a whole lot of time on the computer.  now that drew is out of the house for a bit i thought i would play a little catch-up...

every year our christmas routine is the same...christmas eve is spent all day with the murphy side of the family, and christmas day is spent all day with the reed's.  this year was a little different because of christmas falling on a sunday.  i have to say, though, it was truly a blessing being in church worshipping our savior on christmas...what better place to be on christmas than in church saying thank you to God for sending His son, Jesus?  it was really a special touch to christmas this year, and one that was fun for our kids, too, seeing as how we all sat together and enjoyed the service together as a family.  the christmas service set things back a bit, though, and so we didn't even get started on mom's christmas until close to noon!  so things were a little rushed that day, but altogether it still turned out to be a great day!

here are a few pictures of our christmas fun...

flying high at Nana & Papa's

kylie kicked off our reading of the christmas story by reading the first verse of Luke 2

the new family of four

unfortunately as soon as we sat down to start opening presents, kk decided it was time for her to take a nap, so i didn't get any pictures of the kids opening gifts.  however, they received many good things, as did everyone there...i got a sewing machine!  now i'll have to see if i can actually use it...

we spent a great evening with our grandparents murphy & the tx murphys.  it was a great time, and then it was back to m-town to get ready for the "big day"

christmas morning started at regular time for us...7:00 am!  we woke the kids up and headed into the den where Chesney, Clancy & Trixie had helped santa pack their stockings full of goodies...

after checking out all the goodies in the stocking, the girls tore into the wii together, and then we all headed to get ready for church.  after the church service we headed over to gee & pawpaw's, where food and presents were plentiful.  just a look at some of the highlights...

check out kenzie's face in this...she got a "Jessie" set...outfit, boots, hat, & braid...
look at hers & kylie's mouths wide open...i'm thinking it was a hit {and check out Jeremy...
obviously not a hit with him}!

one of kylie's favorite gifts was a password journal...

and let me pause here and say that this is the one time that it pays off to have a dramatic child...every single gift she opened was the best gift ever!

every year on the christmas after they turn one, each baby gets a build a bear.  this year kolbie got a monkey whom we named cocoa.  kk loves little cocoa already...

we had our first truly "big girl" gift this year...kylie got a vanity from mom & dad...i loved her face in the pictures...she couldn't believe it!  we couldn't fit it in the car when we came home, and if she's asked me once, she's asked me 50 times when we're going to get her desk and bring it home.  she is so excited about it, and ready to spend time at her big girl desk. :)

we really did have a great christmas.  we were thankful for all we got, but even more, we were thankful for another year spent with our whole family.  we are blessed beyond belief.

hope you had a wonderful christmas, as well!
