staycation day two: pink palace! {and other things}...

if i had typed out everything we did on day two in my title, it seriously would have scared you away from reading this post...especially after yesterday's photo overload.  but i promise i don't have nearly as many photos from day two.

one of the things i loved about this vacation is that we slept in every.single.day.  and because we were at home, all of the girls slept later than they would have if we had been in a hotel room.  i had forgotten what 9:00 am looked like...and now that i remember, i may be in a very bad place next week when we have to start back to school...

we started off day two by going to eat at la hacienda.  no, that was certainly not planned...in fact, we were trying to hit up cici's, but didn't realize that the one we went to had been closed down.  so la hacienda was our next choice.  and i didn't get a picture of the food, but you're not missing anything...after we finished eating we headed straight over to the pink palace.  this was another fun thing that our kids had never done.  and i'm so glad a friend at church told me that pink palace is FREE on tuesdays after 1:00!!! JACKPOT!!!

{ilove kk's face in this...she was half smiling/half crying, because she was so afraid
of the dinosaur in the background...he would roar really loud and move his face around,
and he looked so real that she was just not crazy about him...}

the girls loved the enchanted forest...

{kk kept saying, "she's soooo pretty!"}

we got to see what a real, old-fashioned pharmacy would have looked like...

and the girls got to pose in authentic civil war hats and guns...yes, guns...except for whatever kolbie is holding...i have no idea what she's got, but she started throwing a fit when she didn't have a gun, and so the sweet little man gave her whatever she's hangin' on to...

we paused halfway through our imax tour to take in an imax movie...we saw SANTA VS. THE SNOWMAN, and it was really cute.  although i'm not sure it was worth the $36 that we paid for it.  ouch...

after the imax we continued on and looked at the other side of the enchanted forest...kk wanted a picture at every.single.tree...

next we came to my favorite part...the fashions back in the day...oh my...i could have stayed there for a long.time just looking at all of the pretty dresses...i am so sad that fashion has changed...what must it have been like to wear some of these amazing dresses?!  i could have even been beautiful in one of these...

{just seeing all of the lace and sequins makes me almost swoon...and, yes, i said swoon...}

when we left the pink palace, we made a stop that was not on our agenda {and yes, we did have an agenda...complete with where we were going to eat every day, and how much money we were supposed to spend at every stop...just helping us to stay focused...}.  we planned tuesday evening to go to a basketball game at the high school where drew graduated, but we had a little too much time between the two events, so we decided to stop in at rhodes college, where drew played basketball for one year on scholarship.  it is an amazing campus, very european style, and it was fun walking through the buildings and seeing where he lived for a year. of course, it was not fun losing kenzie in a three-story library.  yes, where you can't even yell for her.  it was a panic moment for sure...

{this was in the library, while we were still smiling since we hadn't lost kenz yet...}

 after we left rhodes, we hit up cici's, since we had all been really excited about eating there earlier in the day and hadn't been able to.  we finished up the day by going to a basketball game at mine & drew's alma mater, and that was the end of staycation day two!

staycation day two:  pink palace, imax, rhodes college, central baptist basketball game = so fun!!!!

 happy christmas eve!!
