the confidence is in full supply...

i have decided that for the time being, self-confidence is not an issue that i have to worry with where kylie is concerned.  on the contrary; she seems to have enough to go around for all of us.  for a long time now kylie has insisted that she is going to be a "cooker" when she grows up (in other words, a chef).  however, yesterday she had a moment of insight.  we were headed out to katie's for our swim day and i had the francesca baticelli cd going...needless to say, she was belting it out with all her might.  here's a look at how our conversation went down:

kylie:  mom, i'm not sure that i'm going to be a cooker anymore.
mom:  well, that's okay.
kylie:  how do you know what you're supposed to be?
mom:  well, you can be anything you want to be as long as you know that's what God wants for you to be.
kylie:  but how do you decide?
mom:  well, it's about what you like to do...you know, God gives you talents, things you're good at, and you use those talents in whatever He wants you to do when you get older.
kylie:  well, that's really hard, because i just have so many talents to choose from!

er...okay...at this point i didn't burst her bubble or try to convince her otherwise.  instead i'm using it to my advantage...for dinner we put one of her many talents to good use and she helped me cook dinner.  hoping some of that confidence oozes its way over to my middle, less confident child...
